Murder-Suicide
In an unrelated incident in May, an off-duty NYPD officer fatally shot a man who was identified as an off-duty security guard at Resorts World Catskills casino. According to media reports, it was connected to an apparent love triangle involving the cop’s wife. The officer then fatally shot himself with his department-issued weapon.

According to information from the Wallkill Police Department, the deceased casino guard was Edward Wilkins, 20, of Wurtsboro, New York.

According to reports, the deceased NYPD officer was Sean Armstead, 36, of Port Jervis, New York. He had been a New York City cop for ten years.

According to Wallkill Police Chief Robert Hertman, the Mother’s Day shooting occurred outside of Middletown’s Buffalo Wild Wings. Middletown is a small town located approximately 76 miles north of New York City.

According to police, the incident began when Armstead crashed his car into Wilkins’ vehicle. The two then got into a fight. According to police, Armstead began shooting at Wilkins. He was armed with a Glock 9mm semiautomatic pistol issued by the NYPD.

Wilkins crashed into the nearby Buffalo Wild Wings parking lot. However, the shots continued. According to news reports, Wilkins was shot 16 times in the head and back.

According to the reports, Armstead then fatally shot himself in the head. According to police, both men were declared dead at the scene.

Before the murder-suicide, the men had known each other. Wilkins allegedly had a romantic relationship with Armstead’s wife, Alexandra Vanderheyden, 35, according to the New York Post.

He worked at Vanderheyden’s dog walking business, according to the newspaper, which cited unnamed sources.

The woman was not hurt in the bloodbath. According to the newspaper, she was in the area where the shooting occurred to meet with Wilkins at a Wallkill hotel.
